Updated: Nov 13, 2020

Laura is a woman who came to the United States for a job proposal made by a neighbor, she offered to pay the costs of the ticket for her, her husband and her daughters as well as lodging and food while she made her own income.

Faced with such a tempting offer, Laura convinced her husband and they traveled but they entered the United States by land, she managed to enter with false documents that her neighbor gave her, she and other women were admitted under deceit to be used in prostitution.

Human trafficking is a serious crime in which a person (the perpetrator) recruits, transports or houses the victim through the use of physical force, threats, kidnapping, fraud, lies or abuse of superiority. The purpose is to exploit the victim sexually or force her to work in conditions similar to slavery or servitude, or to remove one or more organs from her body.

Victims of human trafficking in the U.S. can apply for a T visa to stay in the country with their immediate family members. Tomorrow we will continue discussing this issue.
